Aectual co-founder Hedwig Heinsman pitched-perfect live on stage on main Dutch late night TV show Op1 next to Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands.

Talking about money, Prince Constantijn stated that it only goes to those companies that can recoup the investment.

Aectual co-founder Hedwig Heinsman was introduced as someone who has managed to outgrow the startup phase and become a real scale-up. An example of a successful company in 3d printing that prints complete houses as well as part of the floor on Schiphol airport.

Investment climate in the Netherlands

Asked on her reaction to the Prince's call that the investment climate must improve in the Netherlands, Heinsman answered:

‘I completely agree and I don't believe it has succeeded either. I feel like we are actually just starting. Of course, we have the ambition to become a global player, so there is still some work to be done. And in that respect, I think there is still room for improvement in the investment climate in the Netherlands.”

Did you raise your money in the Netherlands or do you have foreign investors? Heinsman: “We've raised money in the Netherlands as well as the United States. So, in that respect, it does attract and it is of course very cool that what is innovated here can grow and see success within the Netherlands.”

Architectural customization

The Op1 presenter asked her about the 3d printed floor in Schiphol: ‘Why print a floor 3d when you can also pour it in an hour?”

Heinsman:  ‘Well, that's true, but we specialize in architectural customization. It's worth noting that in the construction and interior design world, more than 50% is customization.

And we make that a lot faster, cheaper, and more efficient using 3d printing. And in this case, it's very beautiful patterns that we're laying out. Normally that's all achieved manually and now a robot is doing that super-fast.”
