Circular interior design has reached new heights with the recently opened 18Montrose flagship store at 20 Regent Street St James’s, London. It shows the succes of Aectuals Circular Service: materials originally part of the UAE Pavilion at the 2022 international Floriade Expo have been transformed into the striking 3D-printed interior of this luxury store.
Learn how Aectual’s circular materials, crafted from recycled consumer plastic, can be repurposed over and over again, blending bold design and environmental responsibility:
Blending design and circularity
18Montrose is a cutting-edge fashion and lifestyle retail concept, known for its modern aesthetic. When the design team envisioned a store interior that was streamlined yet textured, clean yet impactful, Aectual’s bespoke 3D-printed surfaces provided the perfect solution. The store is entirely clad in textured, white 3D-printed panels, developed exclusively for 18montrose by Aectual in collaboration with SmithBrewer, who engineered the structural system behind the installation. The panels belong to Aectuals customizable ‘Wrap’ series, which offers a range of patterns and configurations tailored to unique client needs.
Aectual Circular Service
The story behind the panels at 18Montrose reflects Aectual’s pioneering circular design approach. The panels began their journey in The Netherlands in 2022 as part of the UAE Pavilion at the international Floriade Expo. 3D printed from Aectual Recycled Consumer Plastic™—a material based on recycled polypropylene—the pavilion’s massive Claustra Wall enclosed the pavilion for nine months before being dismantled. Post-dismantling, all elements of the wall were shredded and the material was stored in Aectual’s Material Bank, ready to be repurposed.
When 18Montrose sought a bright white interior with depth and texture, this material was a perfect fit, and was reprinted into bespoke panels for the store. In the future, these same panels can be shredded and reprinted again, ensuring a truly infinite material lifecycle. Learn more about Aectuals Circular Service here.
Elevating retail design
The result is a cutting-edge retail space that seamlessly combines bold design with environmental responsibility. The panels are straight or curved at various angles, giving the store an elegant and cohesive flow. The textured panels create dynamic shadow effects, adding depth and dimension to the store’s clean aesthetic. Located alongside luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Selfridges, the 18Montrose store positions itself strongly in the luxury and contemporary market while setting a new standard for sustainable retail design.
Customizable finishes
Aectual’s Wrap panels come in 13 standard colors and can be configured up to dimensions of 1.20 x 1.20 meters, with curved options available. Whether you’re envisioning a textured feature wall or a fully immersive interior, our customizable finishes can bring your vision to life while contributing to a circular economy.
